FAQ

Why are STD tests so expensive.

STD testing is expensive because laboratories are expensive to run and operate. Our testing is as affordable as we can make it. A better question is why is everything so expensive. We believe strongly in flat markups. We try to build in the same profit amount for every product regardless of the price. We believe that margin based pricing is both illogical and disrespectful to our clients.

EXAMPLE: Two bottles of tequila costs $25 and $50 to produce. We believe we should charge the same markup for both and price them at $30 and $55, we take a fiver for rent and beer money. Bad companies believe they should price by marginal markup and charge $30 and $60, a 10% up charge. Why should they profit more from the fancy tequila? because they are rude. That's why.

Isn't a local clinic cheaper?

It's possible that your local clinic is less expensive. But... you have to travel to that clinic. You have to wait in their not so private waiting room surrounded by other people. You have to describe your sexual exploits to their staff. You have to fill out their endless paperwork. Then, you get to have a phone call with some stranger about your results. Time = Money and convenience is a luxury.

If you really love our company and what we represent but the prices are going to overdraw your account, send us an note. We believe in what we do and we understand that healthcare is expensive. We can see what we can do.

Do I have to pay for shipping?

No. We pay shipping, both ways.

Is your lab legit?

Yes. Our lab is CLIA certified and super awesome.

How do I order wholesale (for retail, or maybe just really liberated people...)?

Contact us. We are always interested in getting more people to have more, and safer, sex.

What if my test comes back positive?

Well, for starters, it's a good thing you got tested. Finding STDs and STIs is the reason that we do what we do. The vast majority are completely curable. The remainder can almost always be controlled, suppressed, and mitigated. Getting rid of the stigma around STDs is an important part of promoting healthier sex. We are happy to help you with whatever your next steps are. We can make some recommendations, and help you find health care providers. After you have figured out your course of action. You should definitely reach out to your sexual partners and let them know. We will give them all a discount to encourage everyone to get tested.

What if my test comes back inconclusive?

There are a couple reasons this could happen. To rule out some factors, we will start by sending you a new kit and re-testing.

What is the difference between the types of samples used?

Saliva, Blood, and Urine are all effective samples for finding various infections and disease. Different STDs and STIs are easier to find (or can only be found) with certain sample types. We know that sending in different types of samples can be annoying, but it's for the best. The instructions that arrive with your kit will help you make sample collection as easy and painless as possible.

Why do you not take insurance?

This is a complicated issue. If we were to take insurance, then our test ordering process would likely be more complicated. It could require you to physically go to the doctor in order to get the test ordered. We wanted to create a process in which you could discretely and privately get tested with a minimal amount of effort. Additionally, by avoiding insurance companies, we are able to keep our processing and billing costs simplified and significantly lower. Because these tests are not as expensive as a surgery or other major medical procedures, a low overhead allows us to pass those savings on to you. Because most of our customers are relatively healthy young adults, the combination of a doctors visit, co-pays, and reaching deductibles could be more than the cost of our tests.

Plus, if you have been reading anything about the state of health care in America, you probably hate health insurance companies. Have you tried getting reimbursed lately? We're going to keep it this way until getting an insurance company to cough up cash is as easy as Venmo.
